In my dreams....
I put on a pretty dress that I loved. I went to a valley, picked up a flower. The fragrance tickled my senses into a dance. I smiled like my heart had sunshine all over.
And then, I woke up to the colour of the flower on the tips of my finger!
This ensemble is all you need to juggle between your dreams and realities seamlessly! It consists of - -An off-white handloom cotton, kimono-sleeved, round-neck with tear-drop detailing, ruffle, knee-length overlay dress. The Herringbone maroon hand-embroidery on it done by our women artisans adds charm and how!
-A maroon, naturally-dyed handloom cotton, sleeveless, square-neck, princess cut underlay dress! The side waist drawstring tie up detailing and the pockets steal the heart!
Description
This ensemble consists of one handloom cotton overlay garment and one handloom cotton, naturally-dyed underlay garment.
Handloom cotton is a type of fabric that is woven using hand operated looms. Two sets of interlacing yarns, the warp (length) and weft (width), are woven on a mechanised loom operated by weavers. These looms do not use electricity. Human handling lends the fabrics a unique feel and renders the fabrics more value. The resultant fabric is softer and much more comfortable than machine-made fabrics. Handloom cotton is more breathable and thus feels lighter in summers and is perfect for layering in winters.
The art of hand weaving is labour intensive and takes a longer time. But, the beauty it adds to the fabric is priceless. Choosing handloom cotton supports the rich weaving heritage of India and lets the weavers carry on the precious art-form to the future generations as well.
The Herringbone hand-embroidery on the overlay garment is done by a group of beautiful women artisans at Suta. This dress has kimono-sleeves and the easy-fit allows space for freedom of movement, breathability and flow. This can be styled as separate from the ensemble as well.
The underlay garment is naturally-dyed using plant-based dyes and it can be worn separately and styled in multiple ways.
